QCA sled hockey player heads to fourth Paralympic Games in Milan

  • February 26, 2026

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Kevin McKee is heading to his fourth Paralympic Games, representing the United States in sled hockey in Milan, Italy.

McKee, a Quad Cities native who was born with a rare spinal disorder, said he first picked up the sport at age 10 at River’s Edge in the Quad Cities.

“I kind of fell in love with sled hockey because it was a sport that I could get out of my wheelchair and get into this sled, which is different,” McKee said. “And then the speed of it was something that drew me in right away.”

McKee overcame a broken femur earlier this season.

“It’s challenging every year to make this team,” McKee said. “Our depth in the U.S. is really deep. So it’s an honor, and you can’t take anything for granted.”

McKee enters the Games with three gold medals and said he is confident in this year’s squad.

“I think our team is really good. We have a good mix of older and younger guys, the talent’s unreal,” McKee said. “I’ve been around a long time, and every year it gets better and better.”

McKee doesn’t have any plans to leave the sport anytime soon.

“I didn’t want to give up, so I just said, you know, I’m going to go until they tell me no, and now I’m still here,” he said.

McKee and the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team depart for Milan tomorrow. Their first game is scheduled for March 7.
