If Jordan Binnington is traded, it’ll be a heated competition for his services.

The Team Canada goalie is back with the St. Louis Blues in the NHL, and the trade deadline is March 6. The Blues have nothing to play for, and so Binnington’s name  has popped up in rumors.

ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski is the latest to suggest Binnington could move, making the case in a new article on Thursday.

“He’s a big-game goalie,” Wyshynski writes. “The Blues won’t be playing any of those this season.”

Many teams will, though, and some of them have goalie needs.

“Teams like the Hurricanes, Oilers, Golden Knights, Canadiens and Ducks all might,” Wyshynski said of the potential of big games for those teams. “Binnington has a 14-team no-trade list and a $6 million AAV. He has one more year on his deal after this one, with his salary dropping to just $4.5 million.”

The Oilers might be the most fascinating team listed, because they already made a goalie trade this season. They sent Stuart Skinner to the Penguins with other assets to get Tristan Jarry.

Jarry, though, has struggled mightily since arriving in Edmonton, and that’s when he’s been healthy enough to get on the ice.

The Canadiens are a bit of a trading toss-up, with the chance they may send players out but also a case made for them getting Binnington.

These two clubs from Canada aren’t alone, though. A Binnington bidding war could be a very active one.
