Ice hockey powerhouse Jack Hughes got emotional while talking to New Jersey Devils fans at Newark’s Prudential Center on Wednesday, February 25, after his victorious return from the Winter Olympics.

Footage filmed by sports-talk radio host Danielle McCartan shows Hughes addressing fans during the Devils first game back since the Olympic break.

“I’m so proud and I’m so happy that the men’s and women’s USA hockey teams brought gold medals back to the United States of America,” Hughes can be heard saying to loud applause. “You guys are making me emotional, but I’m so proud to represent the New Jersey Devils organization, and I’m so, so proud to represent the great state of New Jersey.”

It was the first time the US men’s hockey team won gold in 46 years, with Hughes, who lost several teeth after a stick to the mouth, scoring the winning goal against Canada in overtime. Credit: Danielle McCartan/@CoachMcCartan via Storyful
