To say it’s been a whirlwind week for New Jersey Devils-USA hockey star Jack Hughes is to understate the nation’s latest sports hero’s schedule.
A week ago Hughes and his teammates were playing Canada’s national team in Milan, Italy for a gold medal (and Hughes got two teeth knocked out before scoring the game-winning goal last Sunday).

On Feb. 28, Hughes manic schedule saw him jump on a private flight from St. Louis after playing in the Devils’ victory to appear on Saturday Night Live in New York City, which broadcasts at 11:30 p.m.

In between, he’s been in Miami, Washington, D.C. for the State of the Union, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis to appear on the Pat McAfee show before playing on Saturday, Feb. 28 in St. Louis against the Blues.
Saturday night Hughes skated a total of 17 shifts, played a total of 16.:05 minutes and had an assist, his 27th of the season, in New Jersey’s 3-1 win.

After the game, which ended at 7:33 p.m. EST, Hughes took a private flight out of St. Louis, which got him in time to New York in time to appear on the show for guest host Connor Storrie’s monologue, according to LateNightder.com.

There Hughes was joined his brother and USA teammate Quinn and U.S. women’s hockey gold medalists Hilary Knight and Megan Keller. Because of the tight turnaround, Hughes did not participate in SNL’s 8 p.m. dress rehearsal at 30 Rock. Instead, cast member Tommy Brennan reportedly filled in for him, LaterNighter reported.

On March 2, Hughes, his brother and Knight won’t have to travel quite so far as they are scheduled to appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, which is taped in New York City, and on Tuesday Hughes get to play a home game at Prudential Center.

As Hughes told McAfee, when it slows down he will get his teeth fixed.
