MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (WILX) – No. 2 Michigan State hockey wrapped up the Big Ten regular season title with a dominant, 7-1, win over Minnesota on Thursday night. It’s the Spartans’ third consecutive Big Ten regular season title and just the second time a program has won three regular season titles in a row since the Big Ten began sponsoring hockey in 2013 (Minnesota, 4, from 2014-17).
Michigan State (25-7-1, 16-6-1 Big Ten) earns the top seed and receives a quarterfinals bye for the Big Ten Tournament, which begins Wednesday. The Spartans will host a semifinal game on Saturday, March 14, at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing.
MSU wraps up its regular season with the second game of the series on Friday in Minneapolis.
