Nazem Kadri returned for the Avalanche, and the other newcomer, Nic Roy, both found the scoresheet. Kadri played the wing because of a notable injury to the top line. Also, a goalie change wasn’t going to hurt the Red Wings’ chances of closing out a big game.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — March 9.

Colorado Hockey Now

The return of Nazem Kadri was a success. But unfortunately, the team revealed right before puck drop that Gabe Landeskog was out with a lower-body injury.

The captain is going to miss some time. And its because of a slap shot that hit him in a very sensitive area.

Kadri stepped in on the top line with Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas. They combined for one goal, but the Avs needed much more than that to defeat a strong Minnesota Wild team.

One thing was clear after this game: Kadri still demands the spotlight. He wants it, he feeds off of it, and Jared Bednar gave it to him.
