The Bruins signed defenseman Frederic Brunet, their defense prospect who appears to be on the cusp of breaking into the NHL in the next year or two, to a two-year contract extension on Monday.
The deal carries an NHL cap hit of $875,000 and is a two-way deal in 2026-27 and one-way in 2027-28.
The 6-3, 200-pound Brunet, who was taken in the fifth round of the 2022 draft (132nd overall), has had a breakout season in Providence. He has 11-17-28 totals in 55 games for the P-Bruins.
