The Vancouver Canucks organization has announced a roster move on Monday involving a surging 22-year-old forward prospect who has taken some big strides this year.
After announcing their intentions to rebuild back in January, the Vancouver Canucks turned their attention towards getting younger and adding pieces to the organization that can make an impact two, three or four years down the line when they’re competitive again.
One of the team’s forward prospects in particular is having a strong year in the minors and now it appears he’s getting ever so close to being in the National Hockey League.

On Monday morning, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that they’ve called up reigning ECHL Player of the Month Josh Bloom from the Kalamazoo Wings, a move that the forward has been waiting over a month for.
“The following transaction has occurred:
Vancouver (NHL) re-assigns F Josh Bloom from Kalamazoo (ECHL) to Abbotsford.” the Abbotsford Canucks said.
As mentioned, last week the ECHL recognized Josh Bloom’s efforts by naming him Player of the Month for February after he registered 11 assists and 18 points in just 12 games, helping Kalamazoo climb back into the playoff picture in the Western Conference.
“Josh Bloom of the Kalamazoo Wings has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for February.
Bloom scored seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 12 games during the month.” the ECHL shared.
The Vancouver Canucks are hoping that his offensive outburst in Kalamazoo will stick with him as he arrives back in Abbotsford as they want to see what he can do at the AHL level, but if he struggles again, the Wings will more than likely get him back, if they make it to the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Bloom is expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday night as the Abbotsford Canucks continue their six-game homestand against the Manitoba Moose, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets.
