BOSTON – The Boston Bruins (36-23-6) lost on home ice for the first time since December 23, 2025, falling 4-2 to the San Jose Sharks (31-26-6) on Thursday night at the TD Garden.
Fraser Minten (15) and David Pastrnak (24) scored the Bruins’ goals, but both came after the Sharks finished scoring.
Jeremy Swayman made 24 saves, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 39 on the Sharks’ side of the ice.
The Sharks started the game with an early goal. Michael Misa scored at the 5:57 mark of the first period off a behind-the-back pass from William Eklund.
The Bruins poured 14 shots on Nedeljkovic in the first, including three on their lone power play opportunity. He stopped all of them.
The Sharks’ power play converted in the second period, adding another goal to their lead. Former Boston University Terrier Macklin Celebrini directed a shot off Swayman. The puck bounced off Tyler Toffoli and landed in the goal.
The Sharks carried a two-goal lead into the final frame and added to it quickly.
Lincoln, MA native Collin Graf scored 3:13 into the third period. His goal came shorthanded while on a breakaway.
Steve Spott’s power play finished 0-for-2 on Thursday night. Since the Olympic break, they are now 4-for-28 on the man-advantage. They have also allowed two shorthanded goals in that span, including Graf’s.
Five minutes later, William Eklund scored to make it 4-0. He batted his rebound out of the air to beat Swayman.
Fraser Minten was able to beat Alex Nedeljkovic just 10 seconds after the fourth Sharks goal, finally breaking through after the Bruins’ first 33 shots were stopped.
While fending off Dmitry Orlov, Minten drove a shot through the pads of Nedeljkovic to get the Bruins on the scoresheet.
In the final minute and with the Bruins’ net empty, David Pastrnak, who welcomed a daughter this morning, connected on a slapshot from Charlie McAvoy.
However, the late push came up short.
The game ended with a scrum after Charlie McAvoy hit Kiefer Sherwood up high. The hit drew a reaction, and three players were ejected (David Pastrnak, Sherwood, and Vincent Desharnais).
The Bruins now head on the road for their next three games. Their trip starts on Saturday from the nation’s capital city, where they will match up with the Washington Capitals (33-27-7) in their final meeting of the season.
