The Chicago Blackhawks had Friday off after earning a second consecutive 3-2 overtime win over the Utah Mammoth, but it was an eventful start to the weekend for their prospects and minor-league affiliate.
First, the Rockford IceHogs made a pair of transactions ahead of their meeting with the Chicago Wolves. Then, there was finally an update on the Sacha Boisvert situation with Boston University before taking on Connecticut in the Hockey East tournament.
In OHL news, Marek Vanacker added to his league lead in goals during a 4-0 win for the Brantford Bulldogs.
Around the league, Auston Matthews’ season has come to an end, an injury update on Colton Dach, and Laurent Brossoit is getting an NHL opportunity in San Jose.

Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Trade Rumors
Chicago Hockey Now: Early on Friday morning, the NHL announced that the Blackhawks will participate in the 2026 NHL Global Series Germany with the Ottawa Senators. The two teams will play on Dec. 18 and 20 in Düsseldorf, and it’s the first time the league is returning to Germany in 15 years. Who else is already looking up flights?!
More CHN: Connor Bedard’s feistiness was on display once again in Utah, but in a different way than usual. After recording a primary assist, Bedard stared down a fan sitting in the lower bowl. Then, following his overtime winner, he directed some chirps towards someone sitting along the glass. He was on another level in the Blackhawks 3-2 victory.
The first of two moves made by the IceHogs on Friday, the team acquired forward Ryland Mosley from the Cleveland Monsters for future considerations. The 26-year-old has one goal in eight AHL appearances this season.
Later in the day, the IceHogs signed forward Chase Dafoe to a two-year, entry-level contract. Dafoe, 24, was the captain for Alaska-Fairbanks in the NCAA this past season and recorded 34 points (20G, 14A) in 71 career games for the Nanooks.
The OHL goal-scoring race between two Blackhawks prospects has gotten quite interesting over the last two weeks. Marek Vanacker added his lead over Jack Pridham on Friday, scoring his 44th tally of the season as the Brantford Bulldogs shut out the Sudbury Wolves. Pridham is now two goals behind Vanacker for the league lead.
In NCAA news, there was finally some insight shed on what’s been going on with Sacha Boisvert and Boston University. According to Mike McMahon of College Hockey Insider, Boisvert missed a team meeting earlier this week, and it wasn’t his first incident with the team this year.
More info on why Sacha Boisvert was scratched vs Vermont via @MikeMcMahonCHN.
“According to team sources, Boisvert was late to a team workout earlier in the week. It was not his first infraction, and he was ultimately scratched…”https://t.co/JkBr6yHgvH

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
The Athletic: It’s been a season to forget for the Toronto Maple Leafs. To add insult to injury, literally, Auston Matthews will now miss the remainder of the season after suffering a Grade 3 MCL tear against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.
ESPN: For his knee-on-knee hit on Auston Matthews, Anaheim Ducks defenseman Radko Gudas was slapped with a five-game suspension by the NHL Department of Player Safety. This will be the fifth suspension of Gudas’ career.
San Jose Hockey Now: For the first time since being acquired from the Blackhawks, the San Jose Sharks have recalled veteran goaltender Laurent Brossoit. Starter Yaroslav Askarov is currently banged up with a “minor” lower-body issue.
Sportsnet: Tough news for Colton Dach and his new team. In Dach’s third appearance with the Edmonton Oilers, he suffered an upper-body injury and has now landed on long-term injured reserve. Dach had one assist and five hits in his first two games after getting traded by the Blackhawks.
Forever Blueshirts: Longtime New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin opened up about life with the Los Angeles Kings ahead of his much-hyped return to Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
NHL.com: The St. Louis Blues rallied from a two-goal deficit against Connor McDavid and the Oilers on Friday. Cam Fowler tied the game with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, and then Robert Thomas scored the overtime winner with nine seconds remaining in the period.
