Calgary has lost seven of its last 10 games entering this game. However, not much was expected of the Flames entering this campaign. The Flames are trying to get younger and stock up on draft picks to get the rebuild going.
Detroit looked like it would finally end its lengthy playoff drought. However, injuries and inconsistent play have caused the Red Wings to slide down the standings. Detroit will need to find points to fend off teams like the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Ottawa Senators.

The Flames Story
Calgary has continued its sell off at the deadline in dealing Nazem Kadri back to the Colorado Avalanche. Flames general manager Craig Conroy has seemingly gotten rid of some of the heftier salaries on the team’s cap. The Flames are playing out the string, but they would love to play spoiler.
Dustin Wolf is the expected starter for Calgary but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy stater. Wolf has struggled at times this season with 2.77 goals-against-average and .898 save percentage. The American netminder has complied a 19-24-3 record so far this campaign.
Calgary’s offence has struggled mightily this season, as it’s last in goals scored and second-to-last in power-play success rate. Mikael Backlund leads the team in assists (23) and points (38) after the Kadri deal.
The Red Wings Story
Detroit has also dropped seven of its last 10 games entering this game. It looked the Red Wings were well on their way to breaking through. However, the injury big has decimated the roster.
John Gibson is the probable starter for Detroit, and he’s been solid after a slow start. He’s got a 24-15-3 record to go with a .905 save percentage and 2.45 GAA. Gibson has also registered three shutouts this campaign.
Lucas Raymond is leading the way in assists (45) and points (66) so far this season. Alex DeBrincat is tops in goals with 33 but has only gotten one in his last 10 games.
Prediction
The Red Wings face a tough schedule in the coming games and need all the points they can get. Calgary is trying to figure things out and prepare for next season.
Detroit is currently on a three-game losing skid. However, the Wings should get the bounce back win in this one.
Prediction: Red Wings win 5-2.
Best Bets
We close out this first of two editions of Monday Night Hockey on Prime editions of NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under for the Flames versus Red Wings is 5.5, and we like the over in this game.
As for individual props, take Morgan Frost to get at least a point for Calgary. On the Detroit side of things, take Raymond to get a power play point.
