It is the final day of the Bruins’ three-game road trip.
After starting off on a 2-0 lead, the Bruins fell in overtime last night. David Pastrnak scored two, but the Bruins made mistakes, the Devils pounced on those mistakes, and the game tilted in favor of the home team. The Bruins tied the game in the third period, but the Devils won it with 6.2 seconds showing on the clock.
The hosts of the 2028 World Cup of Hockey were announced, and one Bruin was a part of the video release. David Pastrnak announced Prague, Czechia, as a host city, alongside two Alberta cities.
Around the league, the Bruins did not get much help in the playoff push yesterday. The Red Wings had lost five of their last six, but they picked up a crucial two points and moved ahead of the Bruins in the standings. The Penguins, who are not that far away from the wild card race, also picked up a win last night.
And there was a highlight-reel shootout goal from the KHL.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Here is today’s Daily Bean:
Boston Bruins
BRUINS GAMEDAY: The page turns quickly. The Boston Bruins (37-23-7) are in Montreal for a game against the Canadiens (36-20-10) tonight. It is the third of three in this road trip for Boston, and they have picked up three of four points so far.
BRUINS LOSE: The Bruins are coming off an overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils (34-31-2) last night. They picked up a point in the loss, which is crucial in the playoff push, but they also watched another lead vanish in the process.
But…
The #NHLBruins power play is now 4-for-35 (11.4%) since the Olympic break.

The penalty kill has not been so bad, though. They have killed 23-of-26 penalties (88.5%) since the break.
BREAK APART: David Pastrnak was the driver, Marco Sturm said after the game. He scored twice, and Pavel Zacha added one in his old home rink. However, the power play struggled, as did the top defensive pair.
