The Philadelphia Flyers (31-23-12) kick off their three-game West Coast road trip with a date vs. the Anaheim Ducks (37-27-3) on Wednesday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Philly has been playing much better recently, winning three of its last five, going 3-1-1 in the stretch. The Flyers are 6-3-1 over the last 10 games since the Olympic break.

Anaheim has cooled off a bit as of late, winning just two of its last five games, but six of the last 10, going 6-4-0. The Ducks currently sit atop the Pacific Division, but are only one point out of being in the wild card. Anaheim has a large gap between the first and second wild-card spots; however, it is firmly in the playoff picture.

Puck drop is at 10:00 p.m. EST at the Honda Center. Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up.

Game Notes

Dating back to Cutter Gauthier’s first game in Philadelphia, this yearly two-game series has become quite the rivalry. It’s a bit of a fun one, given that both teams are on opposite ends of the country. The last time these two teams played, two Flyers, Jamie Drysdale and Bobby Brink, left the game with injuries. I wonder about the leftover animosity between the two teams. Could Garrett Wilson make his Flyers debut?

March 18th also marks the five-year anniversary of the day when both Jamie Dyrsdale and Trevor Zegras scored their first career NHL goals at the Honda Center in the Ducks’ 3-2 overtime win over the Arizona Coyotes. Zegras will make his return to Anaheim for the first time since being traded this summer.

The power play has been nothing shy of abysmal lately. A lot of emphasis was put on that following the shootout loss to Columbus. After the game, players and coaches alike recognized that they have to shoot more pucks when up a man. I am looking for the Flyers to take some accountability and make some improvements on Wednesday.

As for the goalie, the Flyers are starting a back-to-back on Wednesday. We know we’ll see both goalies in the next two days. With Wednesday’s game being a bit of a rivalry matchup, I would expect Dan Vladar in goal.
