Charlie Stramel, a Rosemount, Minn. native and the Minnesota Wild’s No. 21 overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft was named one of the ten finalists for the Hobey Baker award, given to the top player in men’s college hockey.

Stramel, 21, has 19 goals and 25 assists in 35 games this season as a senior forward for Michigan State. He’s joined on the finalists list by Spartans goaltender Trey Augustine, whoe is 23-8-1 with a 2.09 goals-against average and .929 save percentage for Michigan State.

University of Minnesota-Duluth forward Max Plante is a finalist with 23 goals and 25 assists in 37 games for the Hermantown, Minn. native. Brainerd, Minn. native Eric Pohlkamp, a junior defenseman for the University of Denver is also a finalist.

The other finalists are Boston College sophomore forward James Hagens, Michigan senior forward TJ Hughes, Penn State freshman forward Gavin McKenna, Dartmouth sophomore forward Hayden Stavroff, Sacred Heart senior forward Felix Trudeau and Quinnipiac freshman forward Ethan Wyttenbach.

The top three finalists will be announced on April 2 and the winner will be awarded on April 10.
