New York Rangers newest head coach Mike Sullivan issues a special message to Pittsburgh Penguins fans as he just recently parted ways with the organization after ten seasons.
Mike Sullivan hasn’t been the head coach of the New York Rangers long, but he’s worked quickly to introduce himself to all of the players here. During his introductory press conference wants to turn the team around and place them on a winning path.
Chris Drury believes Mike Sullivan is the right guy to bring true leadership into the New York Rangers locker room, and during a thrilling discussion with the press Mike Sullivan also believes the team can far exceed where they’ve been recently, and he can help.
GM Chris Drury made an aggressive pursuit in order to hire Sullivan for one reason, as one of the top NHL coaches in the league, he can bring a winning culture that’s been dwindling in the locker room.
“The one takeaway that I have from those conversations is I think there’s a fair amount of leadership in that room,” Sullivan said. “I think there’s a lot of character in that room just based on the initial conversations that I’ve had with these guys.”
The helpful part is that Sullivan already has experience coaching Rangers players during the Four Nations Face-Off, including Adam Fox, Chris Kreider, JT Miller, and Vinnie Trocheck.
“I know there’s a lot of talent in the dressing room, but as we all know talent alone doesn’t win championships. Teams win championships and I think that’s going to be our challenge from Day 1 is to become a team.”

Just a few moments ago, the Penguins organization posted photo on X, that shows Mike Sullivan thanking all the fans in Pittsburgh, along with stating he will never forget them as “Cup Family Is Forever”:
Certainly something he will never forget as he has won two Stanley Cup Championships with the Penguins organization.
