Columbus Blue Jackets News & Notes:
The Blue Jackets have been hot lately, winning four of their last five, collecting nine of the possible ten points during this stretch. They beat the Kraken 5-2 on Saturday in their last game. They have scored an average of 3.8 goals per game while conceding 1.8 during their last five games. The Blue Jackets will look to even the season series today when they hit the ice with the Islanders in their fourth meeting. The Islanders beat Columbus in their last game, 4-3 in overtime on February 28th. Columbus has a two-point lead over the Islanders for the third seed in the Metropolitan Division right now with a game in hand. Today’s game should have a playoff feel to it, as both teams need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Eastern Conference Wild Card spot is a tight race as well.
New York Islanders News & Notes:
The Islanders have dropped two straight games after losing 7-3 to the Canadiens on Saturday. In their previous five games, the Islanders have a 2-3-0 record, scoring 2.6 goals per game while allowing 3.2. New York has a 2-1 season series lead over Columbus heading into the fourth and final meeting between the two. The Islanders are a point behind the Red Wings for the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference and two points behind the Blue Jackets for the three seed in the Metropolitan Division.
