Let’s just say that the great Patrick Roy once again found a way to get people across the NHL talking about him following his matchup against the Montreal Canadiens.
Quite simply because Roy challenged the play for offside, and Zachary Bolduc’s goal was overturned after the review on Saturday night.
Even though his New York Islanders were trailing by a score of 7-3 against the Montreal Canadiens (8-3 with the Bolduc goal counted), Roy did not hesitate for a second to ask for a review.
There were fewer than two minutes left in regulation time at the Bell Centre, and the game was clearly out of reach.
Zachary Bolduc fired an excellent shot to beat opposing goaltender David Rittich, and it was a goal that lifted a huge weight off the shoulders of the Quebec forward.
For Bolduc, that goal ended a very long 30-game scoreless drought.
In the stands, fans firmly believed the score would officially become 8-3 for the Canadiens, and that Bolduc had just ended his difficult drought.

Did Patrick Roy disrespect Zachary Bolduc?
The decision quickly drew criticism on social media.
On top of that, there is history. Bolduc and Roy know each other very well from their time together in the QMJHL.
Patrick Roy coached Zachary Bolduc with the Quebec Remparts for a few seasons.
During the commercial break, Zachary Bolduc appeared to try to make eye contact with Roy.
He also seemed to try to get his former head coach’s attention a few times, possibly to lighten the mood.
Despite the forward’s obvious efforts, the Islanders’ bench boss stared straight ahead and completely ignored Bolduc.
Zachary Bolduc, 23, has recorded 26 points in 67 games this season. We are talking here about a 6-foot forward who was a first-round pick of the St. Louis Blues in 2021.
