We have an interesting update out of Brossard regarding the Montreal Canadiens.

All signs point to Jakub Dobes being the Montreal Canadiens’ starting goaltender for tomorrow’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

This would be the first expected change to the lineup used against Patrick Roy’s New York Islanders.

“It’s also worth noting, without much surprise, that Jakub Dobes looked like the #1 goalie. He didn’t really share his net, while Jacob Fowler occasionally gave way to Samuel Montembeault.”

On the ice, the goalie usage left no room for interpretation. Jacob Fowler had to split reps with veteran Samuel Montembeault, while Jakub Dobes took every single repetition.

That rotation in the secondary net clearly confirms the plan for tomorrow’s game.

Facing the Carolina Hurricanes is always a major test for any goaltender.

This will be another crucial game in the standings against a formidable opponent, and we’re eager to see what kind of performance young Dobes can deliver.

Martin St-Louis needs to see his young players rise in key moments of the schedule, and that includes his young goaltender.

A win would allow Jakub Dobes to gain significant ground in solidifying his role as the team’s number-one goalie.

Jakub Dobes, 24, is a 6-foot-4 goaltender who was selected in the 5th round by the Montreal Canadiens in 2020.
