ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria girls hockey senior goaltender Victoria Meyers finished her prep career with Central Lakes Conference recognition.

Meyers was named the CLC goalie of the year for her performance in net for the conference champion Cardinals, who went 11-0 against conference teams over the season and finished with an overall record of 19-6-1, reaching the Section 8AA championship game.

As Alexandria’s netminder, Meyers started all 26 games in goal for the Cardinals, recording a .924 save percentage and averaged 1.58 goals allowed per game over the season, recording six shutouts. Meyers made a season-high 41 saves against eventual Class AA champion Hill-Murray on Nov. 8.

In addition to netting a year-end award, Meyers’ teammate Maya Dutton was named the CLC offensive player of the year. Dutton, a sophomore, co-led the Cardinals with 34 points scored and led the team with 20 assists. She was second on the team with 14 goals scored and scored multiple goals in a game twice, both coming in consecutive contests.

Meyers and Dutton were also named to the CLC all-conference team alongside junior Anna Korynta and sophomore Emily Doherty, as the Cardinals led all teams with four all-conference selections. Seniors Jersey Severson and Quinn Hills, and juniors Teagan Cullen and Bentley Kriel garnered all-conference honorable mentions.

Doherty tied for the team lead in points scored with 34 and was the top goal-scorer on the Cardinals with 17 tallies across all 26 games. She finished second on the team with 17 assists. Korynta was fourth in goals scored (12) and third in assists (14) on the roster. She finished second on the team with three game-winning goals and topped the Cardinals with four goals on the power play.

Hills, committed to run cross country for Augustana (S.D.) in the fall, finished third on the team with 13 goals and tallied one of Alexandria’s four short-handed goals on the season, adding six assists to her line.

Severson and Cullen tied for fifth on the team with nine goals scored and sixth in assists. Kriel was one of five players on the Cardinals to pick up 10 or more assists on the season, finishing with five goals and 10 assists on the year.

St. Cloud Crush’s Reese Ruska garnered the CLC defensive player of the year award.
