While the Detroit Red Wings have disappointed their fans lately, people clearly want to watch them in nationally televised games this season.

Last Saturday’s Boston at Detroit game was the third-highest rated NHL game on ABC this season. About 1.267 million viewers tuned in to watch the 8 p.m. broadcast on ABC. That was fourth-highest rated NHL game this season.

Three of ABC’s top four games this season have involved the Red Wings.

The best ratings for any NHL game this season was a Stadium Series outdoor contest between the Boston Bruins and Tamp Bay Lightning on Feb. 1. About 2.072 million tuned in for that game.
