The Montreal Canadiens (40-21-10 SU, 41-30 ATS) roll into Nashville to open a five-game road trip, heading into Bridgestone Arena with a four-point cushion in the Atlantic Division standings. The Predators (34-29-9 SU, 39-33 ATS) are playing a very different kind of hockey right now, the kind where every single point feels like oxygen as they cling to the final Western Conference wild card spot by just one point over the Los Angeles Kings. The Habs open as -120 road favorites at FanDuel, with the total set at 6.5 goals.

montreal canadiens vs. nashville predators Pick

The Preds have five of their last six, so the engine is running, but a 4-2 home loss to New Jersey in their most recent game was a rough way to close out the week. The Predators need a bounce-back badly, and they’re getting one of the hotter teams in the league walking through their door. Montreal’s 18-8-8 SU road record is sixth-best in the entire NHL, meaning the Habs don’t just play well at the Bell Centre, they pack that skill and momentum in their luggage. Offensively, the Canadiens are one of the more dangerous teams in the league, averaging 3.51 goals per game, the fourth-most in the NHL, and a top five power play (24.7%).

Nick Suzuki is the engine leading the team with 86 points, while Cole Caufield has been an absolute sniper with 44 goals. Lane Hutson adds strength from the blue line with 70 points, and Juraj Slafkovsky has quietly put together a strong year with 63 points in 71 games. There’s no obvious weak link in this lineup, which makes this group a nightmare to game-plan against.

That Predators offense is a real concern for the home side. Nashville is averaging just 2.96 goals per game, which ranks mid-pack in the league. The head-to-head history makes this even harder to argue for Nashville. Montreal won the only previous meeting this season, a 3-2 OT dub in October where Cole Caufield scored twice, with Jakub Dobes between the pipes. The Habs have now won five of their last six matchups against the Predators.

Montreal is the better team from top to bottom, they’re playing their best hockey at exactly the right time of the season and they’ve proven all year that road games don’t rattle them.

Cole Caufield Anytime Goalscorer (+130 at FanDuel)

It’s that time of the week to once again bet on Mr. Saturday Night to find the back of the net. Cole Caufield has 19 goals in 20 games on Saturday, coming off a hat trick last weekend. In his last seven Saturday appearances, he has pocketed a whopping 13 goals. With Juuse Sarros bringing in a 3.11 GAA and .895SV%, Caufield shouldn’t be intimidated.
