Porter Martone Signs Entry-Level Deal with the Philadelphia Flyers
Martone has signed his entry-level deal after wrapping up his only season with Michigan State of the NCAA. The 19-year-old collected 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 to points for the Spartans. He was the fifth freshman player to get at least 50 points in program history and first to do so the since 1991-92.
The Peterborough, Ontario native was the only freshman to make the All-Big Ten first team. He helped Michigan State make the last eight before losing to rival Wisconsin in the regional final.

Martone is the first Flyers player from their 2025 draft class to ink his entry-level deal. He joins Noah Powell, Cole Knuble, Alex Ciernik, and Riley Thompson as other Philadelphia prospects to sign his first contract.
The forward represented his native Canada at the last two World Junior Championships. Martone was captain for a Team Canada squad that claimed the bronze medal.
What it Means
Martone joins a Flyers team that has plenty of young prospects. Philadelphia general manager Daniel Briere has stockpiled plenty of assets and prospects. He’s hoping these players will start to bear fruit at the NHL level.
Flyers fans should be encouraged in seeing the Ottawa Senators last year and the Buffalo Sabres this year using their prospects to move up the standings. Philadelphia is hoping to finally get back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
