The Boston Bruins are back on home ice today, and it is against one of the two teams in the league that have already clinched a playoff spot.

The Bruins took the day off yesterday, and rightfully so after picking up wins in their back-to-back this weekend. There are eight games left on the schedule, and only three of them are against teams out of the playoff picture, though one still has a shot.

A front office change happened in Toronto. The move happened just before their game, which already drew headlines as Radko Gudas faced the music and played the Maple Leafs. He injured their captain, Auston Matthews, and was suspended for five games.

In other news from around the league, the Penguins picked up a five-goal win against a team in the playoff picture, and the Avalanche beat the Flames by seven. Macklin Celebrini picked up his 100th point of the season, and John Tortorella got his first win as the head coach of the Golden Knights.

Happy Tuesday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean:

NHL News & National Hockey Now

Sportsnet: In his third season at the helm, Brad Treliving has been fired as the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs sit well outside of the playoff picture this season, and they are without two of their next three first-round picks.

MLSE President and CEO Keith Pelley will meet with the media at 2:00 PM today.

Elliotte Friedman spoke more about the decision. There were reports that Pelley was conducting meetings within and outside of the organization, and Treliving heard these reports. Friedman compared it to the exit of former Raptors GM Glen Grunwald and suggested that once Treliving heard plans for the future did not include him, he gave the Leafs an opportunity to get ahead of the firing.

HockeyFights (video via YouTube): The Maple Leafs played the Ducks, and Radko Gudas remained in the lineup. Before the game, he said he wanted to stand behind his mistakes. He did. Max Domi was the Maple Leaf to step up and fight Gudas.

B/R Open Ice (video via 𝕏): Then, Michael Pezzetta went after Gudas and got the boot for going after the referee after.

New Jersey Hockey Now: One GM is out, there’s another one on a hot seat. The Devils have turned it around recently, and the thought that he might not go anywhere just yet. James Nichols has the latest on the rumors surrounding the Devils’ front office.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: This game did not impact the Bruins’ playoff chances, but it was a battle of a matchup we could see in the playoffs. The Islanders went up 3-1 on the Penguins, then Pittsburgh scored seven straight.

Colorado Hockey Now: Nazem Kadri scored twice in his first game against the Flames since being traded, and the Avalanche won 9-2. Both Kadri goals came on the power play, and that went 3-for-4 last night. But they lost Cale Makar to an upper-body injury. Aarif Deen has more from Denver.

NHL.com: John Tortorella started the Vegas chapter of his career last night, and it started with a win. The Golden Knights beat the Canucks 4-2 last night after going down 2-1.

San Jose Hockey Now: Macklin Celebrini hit point No. 100 last night. He also got to 101 for good measure. The Sharks took down the Blues last night, 5-4, and fought a third-period comeback from St. Louis.
