The date is finally set. Philadelphia Flyers star prospect Porter Martone will make his NHL debut on Tuesday vs. the Washington Capitals, the team announced.
Martone signed his entry-level contract on Sunday and had his first practice with the team on Monday.
His one and only college season at Michigan State ended on Saturday after the Spartans’ run in the NCAA Tournament was cut short by the Wisconsin Badgers.
It was a quick turnaround for Martone, who signed his ELC and was in attendance for Sunday’s win vs. the Dallas Stars.
His debut date was up in the air, as there were still hoops to jump through — visa paperwork, medicals, etc.
That has since been taken care of. The question then became, do the Flyers get Martone in a game as soon as possible, or wait until he can make his debut at home?
We now have an answer. Martone will make his NHL debut on Tuesday vs. the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
At morning skate, he was skating alongside Christian Dvorak and Travis Konecny. It looks as if Alex Bump is coming out of the lineup for him.
You can watch the Flyers’ 2025 6th overall pick make his NHL debut on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. EST.
