The Boston Bruins are opening a four-game road trip, starting against the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, FL, tonight.

The Bruins are hot; their opponent is severely hurt. Boston has not beaten Florida this season (0-1-1), and the two teams see themselves in different corners of the standings.

There were three games last night, none of them in the Eastern Conference, but still some exciting action. The worst team in the league beat the best team in the league in a 14-goal game, and Macklin Celebrini continued to dominate at just 19 years old.

There are 14 games around the league tonight.

The P-Bruins hit a milestone number as they continue to tear through the American Hockey League. And some prospects from Quinnipiac (one Bruin) and Providence College have made their decisions for next season.

Happy Thursday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean:

Boston Bruins

GAMEDAY: The Bruins (43-24-8) are in South Florida for their third and final meeting against the Panthers (36-35-3), who are injured, but still feature some old friends in the lineup. The Bruins have won four in a row, and they have points in their last seven road games (4-0-3).

Prospects Update

The Providence Bruins picked up win No. 50 on the season for the first time since 2012-13. They picked up a 3-2 shootout win in Utica, NY, last night.

Elliott Groenewold will stay at Quinnipiac next year, the team announced yesterday. The 6-foot-2 defenseman led the NCAA with a plus-39 rating this season.

NHL News & National Hockey Now

Florida Hockey Now: The Panthers are hurt. They are now down 11 regulars and only have two defensemen from their opening night lineup. George Richards has more on tonight’s opponent.

San Jose Hockey Now: Macklin Celebrini had a four-point night (2-2–4) for the Sharks; they beat the Ducks 4-3. In the process, he scored his 40th goal of the season. Sheng Peng has the locker room reaction from the Shark Tank.

NHL (video via 𝕏): Celebrini’s 40th goal and Alexander Wennberg’s 17th came in the final two minutes of the game, which pushed the Sharks toward two points.

Colorado Hockey Now: The 32nd-ranked Vancouver Canucks beat the league’s best team, 8-6, yesterday. Jared Bednar kept it simple after the game; there were no excuses for the Avalanche’s showing. Aarif Deen has more from Denver.

Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers inked a two-year contract with David Jiricek yesterday ($1.5 M AAV). The first-round pick was acquired at the trade deadline for Bobby Brink and has been playing in Lehigh Valley since the move. Will James has more on the Flyers’ new contract.

Detroit Hockey Now: At the beginning of March, the Red Wings sat in a playoff spot, and they ranked ahead of the Bruins. At the beginning of April, neither of those applied. What happened? The Red Wings cannot score. Bob Duff has more on Detroit’s inability to find the back of the net.

Daily Faceoff: The Anaheim Ducks signed 10th overall pick Roger McQueen to an amateur tryout contract. He will report to the San Diego Gulls. McQueen has not signed an entry-level contract, keeping the door open for an NHL call-up.

Bruins fans saw this not too long ago.

Quinnipiac Bobcats via 𝕏: In more college (Quinnipiac) news, Ethan Wyttenbach (CGY) is staying in Hamden, CT, for another season. He is the first college freshman to lead the NCAA in scoring and stay in college; the other four turned pro.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Hand up, it got me. I had my guard very high, or so I thought. Check out Dan Kingerski’s work from yesterday’s daily.
