Macklin Celebrini is about to break a Wayne Gretzky all-time NHL record.
It’s harder to have a more impressive sentence than that in all of hockey.
The San Jose Sharks‘ 19-year old is set to surpass Gretzky’s mark for point share while still a teenager.
This season, Celebrini has points on 47.3% of the Sharks’ goals.
Gretzky set the record with points on 45.5% of the Oilers’ goals in 1979-80, according to the Associated Press.

It’s worth noting that this statistic also requires the lines that take the ice when Celebrini isn’t on it to not be particularly efficient. If a team has multiple strong lines, it’s harder for one player to rack up this level of points share.
Still, Celebrini has been immensely impressive, including at the Olympics in the middle of the season with Team Canada.
For the Sharks, Celebrini has 40 goals and 65 assists (105 points) in 73 games.
Their team slowed down in the win column in the second half of the season, but Celebrini didn’t really slow down. It’s clear that San Jose has the face of their franchise for a long time.
