Despite being held off the scoresheet on Thursday, the German played a key role throughout the series, scoring 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in six games.

Edmonton’s Game 6 win saw contributions from across the lineup. Connor Brown recorded a goal and two assists, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, Darnell Nurse, and Trent Frederic each had a goal and an assist, and Adam Henrique opened the scoring for the Oilers.

“You guys all thought we were going to lose,” Nurse said. “It was hard-fought every time we got out there. It’s a series that we earned and we had to earn every inch of it.”

McDavid also pointed to the team’s depth as the key to overcoming the 2-0 series deficit and advancing to the second round.

“We got offense from all over the lineup,” McDavid said. “It wasn’t our best, but we found a way tonight, and that’s what good teams do.”
