Tight race

Suddenly the Minnesota Wild are right on the Stars’ tail.

The Wild have won three straight games and four out of five while the Stars struggled on the road and fell to the first-place Avalanche on Sunday. Minnesota now sits just two points behind the Stars in the Central Division standings.

The Wild are also in action on Tuesday with a matchup against the Kraken, so we’ll know by the end of the night if Dallas has extended its lead, maintained pace, or fallen into a tie with Minnesota.

Good timing

Perhaps it’s fortunate, then, that the Stars are drawing a home game against the lowly Flames on Tuesday.

Calgary is likely thankful the season is approaching its end, as the Flames sit at 32-36-8 this season with a goal differential of -44. It’s been a long year.

The Stars have earned points in each of their last six games against the Flames, going 4-0-2 in that span. Dallas steamrolled Calgary in the teams’ previous matchup on March 3, though Calgary won in a shootout back in November.

Feeling Frosty

Flames forward Morgan Frost has tallied six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in his last four games played, dating back to March 28 against the Vancouver Canucks. He scored his first multi-goal game of the season in Calgary’s last game on April 4 against the Anaheim Ducks. His 21 goals this season paces the team and is a career high for the forward.

In his career against Dallas, Frost has notched five points (2, 3) in nine games played.
