In the last few hours, the New York Islanders truly caused a surprise by announcing the dismissal of head coach Patrick Roy.

This unexpected decision quickly sparked reactions across Quebec, notably on BPM Sports radio.

During their show, hosts Anthony Marcotte, Anthony Desaulniers, and former player Gilbert Delorme did not hide their immense astonishment.

Like many fans, the trio simply cannot believe that Darche dared to show Patrick Roy the door, especially at this stage of the season!

However, while one door abruptly closes for him in New York, another could open very quickly.

An analyst already sees the Senators as a possible landing spot for Patrick Roy

During that same segment, Anthony Marcotte strongly emphasized a path that is making more and more sense: the Ottawa Senators must absolutely be monitored as a possible next destination for Patrick Roy.

According to the journalist, Roy would be the ideal candidate to step in and take over from the current Senators head coach, Travis Green.

What gives even more weight to Marcotte’s hypothesis is the direct connection with the Senators’ upper management.

It is well known that Senators owner Michael Andlauer holds Patrick Roy in very high regard.

The businessman has never hidden his admiration for the fire, passion, and will to win of the former number 33.

With a young team in Ottawa desperately trying to take the next step in its development, the arrival of a coach of Patrick Roy’s caliber could be exactly the jolt that Michael Andlauer’s organization needs.

This is certainly a situation to watch!

See the segment in question here, on BPM Sports:

“Will he get another chance? I think people are going to have to keep an eye on the Ottawa Senators, because if the Sens miss the playoffs, is Travis Green really on completely solid ground for next year? I am not so sure about that.

And Michael Andlauer has admitted that Patrick Roy is someone he holds in very high regard.

Honestly, it would be interesting if Patrick ended up behind the bench of the Senators.”
