The Utah Mammoth may be the NHL’s newest franchise, but it has already cornered the market on amazing Zambonis.

The franchise unveiled the “Zammoth” Tuesday night ahead of its tilt against the Edmonton Oilers, bringing a mammoth-like machine to the ice.

The Zammoth is the same Zamboni that was used during the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. The team decked out the ice resurfacing machine to mimic the team’s mascot, giving it giant tusks, glowing eyes and more mammoth features.

Up to eight fans can fit on the Zammoth at a time. It made its inaugural lap around Delta Center, the Mammoth’s home arena, with team mascot Tusky leading the way.

The Zammoth will continues as a mainstay at Delta Center, running pregame and during intermissions.

Utah got an NHL team in 2024 when the Arizona Coyotes relocated to Salt Lake City. The club spent the 2024-25 season as the Utah Hockey Club before announcing the Utah Mammoth as its permanent name last May.

While the Zammoth pays homage to 2002 Salt Lake City Games, the capital city will add to its Winter Olympic history in the near future. Salt Lake City will host the 2034 Winter Games, following the 2030 Winter Games in the French Alps.

From opening night to the Olympic break, here are the key dates to know for the 2025-26 NHL season.
