League leading Avalanche play host to the Flames in the first of two meetings in the next five days

Having locked up the number one seed in the Western Conference, the Colorado Avalanche return home to Ball Arena on Thursday night as they play host to the Calgary Flames in the second of three meetings between the teams this season as the teams will face off twice in the regular season’s final week. Calgary has been eliminated from playoff contention, marking the fourth consecutive season the Flames have failed to make the postseason. Colorado has won eight of the last 10 games in this series and five of the last six on their home ice, including a 9-2 thumping of the Flames back in late March powered by a five-goal first period.

Flames center Morgan Frost leads the team with a career high 21 goals this season, his first full season in Calgary. Frost, a first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, spent the first five seasons of his career with Philadelphia before being dealt to Calgary in January of 2025.
