The Tampa Bay Rays look to finish their first sweep at Tropicana Field since September 2024 when they face the New York Yankees on Sunday

The Tampa Bay Rays (7-7) handed the New York Yankees (8-6) their fourth straight loss on Saturday and can finish off a three-game sweep of the Pinstripers when the teams conclude their series at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Sunday afternoon. The Rays, back at the Trop after playing their 2025 home games at New York’s spring-training facility in Tampa last season due to damage incurred at Tropicana Field from Hurricane Milton in the fall of 2024, last swept a series in the domed facility when they took three games from the Toronto Blue Jays on Sept. 20-22, 2024.

Tampa Bay rallied twice in the late going on Saturday night, capping a 5-4 win in 10 innings on an RBI bunt single by Taylor Walls and a walkoff groundout from Jonathan Aranda. Yandy Díaz tied the game in the eighth on an infield single after the Rays lost their 2-1 lead in the top of the frame. Jonny DeLuca produced an RBI single in the second and Aranda lofted a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Former Ray José Caballero, who entered in a 1-for-29 funk, twice lashed go-ahead hits for New York, driving in two runs with an eight-inning double to make it a 3-2 game and singling home the automatic runner in the 10th to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead. Max Fried worked eight innings, taking a no-decision, and Austin Wells homered in the second inning.

Right-hander Drew Rasmussen worked the series finale for the Rays after posting a 1.80 ERA and 0.800 WHIP in 10 innings over his first two starts. Right-hander Cam Schlittler (2-0) gets the ball for the Yankees, working to a 1.62 ERA and 0.480 WHIP in 16.2 innings with 22 strikeouts in his first three outings.
