The New Jersey Devils have their man. Yesterday evening, they announced they were hiring Florida Panthers assistant general manager Sunny Mehta as their new general manager.
Most of you are probably familiar with Mehta’s story. He’s a Wyckoff, NJ native and Ramapo High School alum and was the Devils’ director of analytics from 2014-2018.
There was plenty to connect Mehta to the job, and the Devils moved quickly to hire him. It was only last week that they announced they were moving on from Tom Fitzgerald.
Mehta is walking into a relatively good situation, but there’s work to do to turn this Devils team around. Fortunately, the Devils seem to have found the right man for the job.
