It’s game day for the Montreal Canadiens, and we now know the six players who will be watching from the stands tonight in Tampa.
Journalist Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports live from Tampa Bay that Brendan Gallagher, Joe Veleno, Adam Engstrom, David Reinbacher, Jacob Fowler, and Samuel Montembeault are currently on the ice.
These are the Montreal Canadiens’ extras for Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
There is one notable surprise on that list: Brendan Gallagher, who will be watching from the stands—a tough break for the veteran.
Jacob Fowler and Samuel Montembeault are also both out of the lineup, which means Jakub Dobes will be the starter tonight (with Fowler serving as backup, apparently).
The Montreal Canadiens leave six players out for Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning
Up front, Gallagher and Veleno are indeed confirmed as extras.
On defense, Engstrom and Reinbacher will watch the game from the stands, so Martin St-Louis will rely on Alexandre Carrier, Arber Xhekaj, and Jayden Struble to begin this first-round series.
Could one of these six players be brought back into the lineup if the series doesn’t go in the Montreal Canadiens’ favor?
It’s definitely possible!
It was journalist Renaud Lavoie who reported the scene live from Tampa this morning.
What’s your opinion on these decisions by Martin St-Louis?
Speaking of lineup changes, let’s also remember this regarding the Tampa Bay Lightning, following the most recent comments from head coach Jon Cooper:
“I’m anticipating he’ll be ready.”
