Corey Perry smiled after Tampa Bay’s 3-2 overtime win over Montreal and used the moment to send a clear message about the Canadiens’ defense.

The 40-year-old veteran did not miss the opportunity to make his point.

“We just kept rolling, just kept going, kept putting the puck in, kept getting after their D. That’s how we play. We play fast. We were out of our zone quick and a hell of a shot by Mo.”

That’s the line that stands out.

Perry is directly targeting the Montreal Canadiens’ defensive unit.

Tampa Bay pressure on Canadiens defense leads directly to Moser’s overtime goal

Perry acknowledges that the Tampa Bay Lightning’s strategy is to apply pressure on the Canadiens’ defensemen.

And it worked in overtime.

Moser had all the space he needed to skate across the ice and fire the winning shot.

The series is now tied 1-1, and Perry knows exactly where to attack.

It was journalist Gabby Shirley who reported Perry’s comments after the game.

This sets the stage for what’s next in this first-round series between the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning, a matchup that is far from over.
