As the Vancouver Canucks look for answers for the gaps that are in their lineup that caused them to miss the 2024-2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, one of those major question marks in “superstar” center Elias Pettersson, who could be on the move to the Eastern Conference.

The 2024-2025 Vancouver Canucks season was nothing short of disappointing for many reasons, but most notably, the roller-coaster season For Elias Pettersson that saw way more downs than highs.

Other than having one of the worst point production seasons in his young career, it was by far the worst considering he signed a monster 8-year deal, worth $92,800,000 with an AAV of $11.6 million.

Montreal Canadiens May Make Push to Acquire Elias Pettersson in Blockbuster Trade

The fact that his highly publicized rift with J.T. Miller that got him traded to the New York Rangers was at the center of all of this, the rumors about if his future with the Canucks is coming to an end.

With Pettersson no-trade clause becoming active on July 1st, the Canucks have one month to make a decision on his future, and one team that is looking for his services are the up and coming Montreal Canadiens.

A new report has highlighted that the Habs are deliberating some big moves to get more talent in Montreal and they have already shown intent to move on from draft picks and prospects like Logan Mailloux, which can easily be a great starting point of a package to get a EP40.

The Canucks would rush into a trade if it means beating the July 1 deadline. We’ve already seen that the Canadiens are willing to part with Logan Mailloux and a first-round pick in this year’s draft. Could two of those assets be the starting point for a package to acquire Pettersson? – Nate Duffet

It is unclear what an entire trade would look like, but If the Canucks do make that decision, they have to make it fast and get a solid return on a centerman who has already proven to be a gamebreaker in the NHL.
