The Anaheim Ducks have officially parted ways with 2023 sixth-round pick Vojtech Port after choosing not to offer him an entry-level contract. As of June 1, 2025, the team’s draft rights to the Czech defenseman have expired.
Port, 19, spent this past season in the WHL, splitting time between the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. In total, he recorded 3 goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 59 regular season WHL games, along with 6 points in 16 WHL playoff appearances. Known for his puck-moving ability and quick decision-making, Port showed flashes of promise but may not have developed fast enough to earn a contract from Anaheim’s front office.
Earlier this year, Port told The Sporting Tribune that he modeled his game after Rasmus Dahlin and was focused on becoming a reliable two-way defender. He acknowledged the physicality of North American hockey as a key adjustment and mentioned working to improve his play in tight areas and along the boards.
Despite his optimism after being drafted, Port will now return to Czechia, where he is expected to play for HC VÃtkovice in the 2025–26 season. With the Ducks’ prospect pipeline deep on the right side—especially after recent draft additions—the decision to let Port walk may have come down to limited opportunity. His departure also leaves Anaheim with one fewer Czech presence in the organization, which had previously included Port alongside veterans Radko Gudas and Lukas Dostal.
