The Vancouver connection is gaining traction in the Brendan Gallagher situation, as the agent for the veteran No. 11 has just made a major statement.
Gallagher’s agent revealed that he has spoken with the Canucks, who have expressed interest in the Montreal Canadiens forward!
It was Gerry Johansson himself who shared the information.
The player’s representative spoke on the Donnie and Dhali show.
His comments finally add substance to a long-standing rumour.
Johansson confirmed that contact has taken place between the two sides.
“Vancouver has initially expressed interest but lots of moving parts,” he explained.
The agent then added this.
“It’s on their desk, they do have interest,” he added, without promising anything more.
In other words, the situation is very real, but far from finalized.
Initial interest alone never guarantees a trade, but it is certainly an excellent starting point.
Why does Vancouver make so much sense for Gallagher?
Because the destination checks several boxes for the veteran.
A return home is taking shape for Brendan Gallagher
The Canucks would represent a return to his roots.
Gallagher is originally from Western Canada and played his junior hockey there.
A rebuilding team like Vancouver needs veterans to help guide its young players, so this could truly be a “win-win” situation.
Gallagher would likely find a larger role there.
Exactly what he is looking for after spending much of the end of last season in the press box.
The Canucks’ confirmed interest changes the landscape.

Now it remains to be seen whether these discussions will lead to a concrete agreement.
