The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a contract extension with defenseman Jamie Drysdale.
Drysdale and the Flyers have settled on a 4 year deal worth $6.5 million annually keeping him in Philadelphia, per Elliotte Friedman.
The Flyers acquired Drysdale in January of 2024, receiving the defenseman and a 2025 2nd-round pick in exchange for prospect Cutter Gauthier, who requested a trade from the team.
Drysdale completed his second full season in Philadelphia, matching his career high in points, 32, tying his number from 2021-22 in Anaheim. He did it with a career-high 8 goals and 4 short of his career-high in assists, at 24.
He struggled with health early on in his career. After playing 70 games in his first full season in Philly, he played 78 games in 2025-26, 3 short of his career high 81, also set in 2021-22.
Drysdale looked to take massive steps forward in his development in 2025-26. Not only was he one of the Flyers’ best puck-movers during the regular season, but he also took steps in his defending as well. This past season, Drysdale did not show the same player who was considered a defensive liability in the seasons before.
While the numbers may not show it, Drysdale had a breakout season for the Flyers in 2025-26, seeing his offensive and defensive game come together. Now that a deal has been signed, focus can shift to his offseason training, getting ready to take another step in his development.
Drysdale will be 24 when the 2026-27 season begins.
