The Florida Panthers are in a high-octane Stanley Cup Final rematch versus Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. Just as most people expected, the series has been an entertaining one so far, with Sam Bennett providing lots of fireworks on the ice.

In Game 1 last Wednesday, Bennett scored two goals on five shots on goal, albeit in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers.
That defeat hasn’t cooled down Bennett, though. The former first-round pick by the Calgary Flames struck anew in Game 2 on Friday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton, as he lit the lamp on the man advantage just a little over two minutes into the opening period.

With that goal, Bennett managed to make NHL history by becoming just the first player ever in league history to have at least 12 goals in enemy territories in a single Stanley Cup playoffs, as noted by the NHL’s communications department on social media.

In addition to that, Bennett also set a new Panthers franchise record for longest streak of goals scored on the road during the playoffs.
“That’s a franchise-record five straight road games with a goal for Sam Bennett and a new #StanleyCup Playoffs record for most road goals in single postseason,” the post read.
Bennett entered Game 2 of the Oilers series with 12 goals and six assists for 18 points through 18 games in the 2025 edition of the NHL playoffs.
Back in the regular season, Bennett, who will turn 29 years old on June 20, had 25 goals and 26 assists for 51 points in 76 games. His stellar play has been a big reason why the Panthers are still standing in the postseason to defend the championship they won in 2024.
