Still available in free agency, the two-time Stanley Cup champion could provide the offensive boost Chicago needs to improve. Although the Blackhawks won their most recent game against the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2, they currently have a 2-5-0 record and sit at the bottom of the Central Division standings. It is to be noted that the Blackhawks had lost five of their first six games of the season before Bedard returned.

The Chicago Blackhawks are urged to sign veteran forward Vladimir Tarasenko to recover from a disappointing start to the 2026-27 NHL season. The two-time Stanley Cup champion could be a valuable addition to Chicago’s lineup, particularly on the second line alongside Tyler Bertuzzi and Anton Frondell. Tarasenko can provide the offensive boost Chicago needs to improve its performance. The 34-year-old winger is still a free agent and has the potential to be a very good pickup for a Blackhawks club that wants to be better this season. His scoring ability and experience could provide the line with an additional offensive threat while helping the Blackhawks develop their younger players. Though the Blackhawks won their most recent game against the Pittsburgh Penguins by a 5-2 final score, they currently have a 2-5-0 record and are at the bottom of the Central Division standings.According to the 2024-25 NHL season, in 75 games last season for Minnesota, he posted 23 goals, 24 assists, and 47 points, proving that he would be a nice pickup for the Blackhawks. While Tarasenko is not the same dominant star he was during his prime, he can still provide strong secondary offensive production.Meanwhile, captain Connor Bedard has returned to the Blackhawks lineup following his recovery from an offseason shoulder surgery. Upon his arrival, the captain helped the team secure a 5-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in his 2026-27 NHL season debut on Tuesday. It is to be noted that the 21-year-old injured his left shoulder during an offseason training session in Vancouver on July 2. However, after weeks of rehabilitation, solo skating, and practices, he was cleared to face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. With only Bedard’s support, the club will not find its lost strength. If they consider Tarasenko, he could also become a potential trade asset ahead of the NHL trade deadline. However, the Blackhawks have yet to announce any agreement with the veteran winger. A potential move remains a recommendation rather than a confirmed signing.
