New York Islanders News & Notes:

The Islanders finish their road trip after a 2-1 shootout loss in Ottawa on Thursday and are still looking for their first road victory of the season. Toronto won the first meeting against the Islanders this year 2-1 on September 30. New York will look to generate more offense against a Leafs team that has had some defensive struggles, although their penalty kill has been effective.

Toronto Maple Leafs News & Notes:

Toronto looks to tighten their game up to find themselves in the win column after giving up a 4-2 third-period lead in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss to Buffalo. Kirill Marchenko’s hat trick provided the offense, but they weren’t able to hold their two-goal third-period lead. John Tavares looks to be out week-to-week, which gives Nick Paul an opportunity between Easton Cowan and Marchenko, as the team looks to push through a couple of early injuries and limit their goals against.

Players To Watch:

New York Islanders

Matias Maccelli has six points over his last five games and finds himself on the top line against Toronto tonight. Maccelli’s play has been solid, and he will look to prove Toronto wrong for not qualifying him this past summer. Maccelli has been decent defensively this season, despite the narrative he holds, and his offensive game has been picking up, making him a much more complete player than he’s looked in the past.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Darren Raddysh has had a slower start to the year than some expected. He has a booming shot and offensive skill, but is still building up chemistry with his teammates. With Tanev injured, Raddysh will see more ice time in situations where a defensive pairing would have been more likely to be deployed, so Raddysh will need to pay attention to the small details in his game to help defend his minutes well, as the Leafs push for a win tonight.
