According to latest reports from NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, the New York Rangers are in “advanced talks” with the Anaheim Ducks of the Western Conference that could see Rangers longest-tenured player, Chris Kreider be dealt in a trade.

Since the beginning of the Rangers offseason Chris Kreider’s name has been swirling in a bunch of trade speculation. Something many fans seen coming considering Kreider is coming off a down year as he only managed to tally 22 goals and 8 assists for a total of 30 points in 68 games.

Just a year prior, Chris Kreider was one of the Rangers best player as he finished the season with 39 goals, 36 assists, and 75 points in 82 games played.

Kreider is currently in his sixth year of his seven year contract extension and carries a cap hit of $6.5 million, and General Manager Chris Drury made it clear that no veteran player is off limits back when he traded Jacob Trouba to the Ducks.Sources say #NYR and #NHLDucks are in advanced discussions on a deal that would send Chris Kreider to Orange County.

No semantics: there is NO DEAL at this moment in time.

But there is interest – and a framework. Both teams had other irons in the fire today. We’ll see on Wed.

According to another Rangers insider, Vince Z. Mercogliano, the New York Rangers are looking to move Kreider’s full $6.5 million in this trade to the Ducks for a return of a prospect and a draft pick. As the organization has a ton of other contracts that need to be addressed this offseason it makes the most sense to move on from Kreider.

I’m hearing the same. Don’t want to put any names out there without confirmation, but framework is prospect and a pick coming back to #NYR with Ducks taking Kreider’s full $6.5M AAV.

Kreider does have a partial no-trade clause, and the fact that things have gotten to an “advanced talks” means that he’s fine with moving on to Anaheim. Which makes total sense given that former Rangers like Jacob Trouba, Ryan Strome, and Frank Vatrano are there making his transition a lot easier.

As of right now nothing there is no official deal, but it’s certainly likely that we will see Chris Kreider be traded on Wednesday at some point. So stay tuned to NY Rangers Insider for the latest news and updates on the New York Rangers.
