The Rangers needed to shake up their roster after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in three seasons.

So they traded their longest-tenured player.

New York sent Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks for prospect Carey Terrance and a third-round pick, according to multiple reports. The New York Post’s Mollie Walker reported he waived his 15-team no-trade clause, which included the Ducks.

Walker also reported that Anaheim will take on all of Kreider’s $6.5 million cap hit over the next two seasons.

The Mass. native spent his entire 13-year career with the Rangers after he was drafted by the organization 19th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. In 883 games for New York, Kreider scored 326 goals and added 256 assists.

Kreider will reunite with some familiar faces in Jacob Trouba, Frank Vatrano and Ryan Strome.
