The ‘future is bright’ for the Coachella Valley Firebirds

Coachella Valley will be younger next season, but should be very talented and exciting

For the third time this month, the Seattle Kraken have re-signed a popular Firebirds player, keeping them in the organization and out of free agency. This time it’s defenseman Cale Fleury.

The Kraken announced Friday afternoon that they have signed Fleury to a two-year, one-way extension. The deal is for $890,000 per year.

Fleury, who has played in 104 games for the Firebirds over the past two years, joins forwards John Hayden and Ben Meyers as key players from last year’s Firebirds team that have already been re-signed by the Kraken this offseason.

Fleury scored 29 points in 39 games for the Firebirds in 2024-25 and had a plus-minus of plus-10. He played 14 games with the Kraken last season and has played 36 games in Seattle over the past three seasons.

The free agency period begins July 1 and the Firebirds, who began the summer with nine players headed for free agency are now down to five. Goalkeeper Ales Stezka announced that he will continue his pro career in Czechia, signing a three-year deal.

The players that are still up for free agency are forwards Luke Heman and Brandon Biro, and defensemen Gustav Olofsson, Max Lajoie and Nikolas Brouillard.
