EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The Hockey Hall of Fame announced today that former Michigan State hockey player Duncan Keith has been inducted into its 2025 class.
Keith played two seasons at Michigan State from 2001 to 2003 and was drafted in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He went on to play 17 years in the NHL, spending his first 16 seasons with Chicago, helping the Blackhawks capture three Stanley Cup Championships.

Keith famously scored in his MSU debut in the “Cold War” game vs. Michigan, played outdoors at Spartan Stadium.
A native of Winnipeg, Canada, Keith won two Olympic gold medals with the Canadian team in 2010 and 2014. He is a four-time NHL All-Star, three-time Stanley Cup champion, two-time Norris Trophy winner (given yearly to the NHL’s top defenseman), and the 2015 Conn Smythe Trophy winner (Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP).
The NHL named Keith as one of the top 100 players in league history in 2017. He retired in 2022.
