Glass, 25, is a pending restricted free agent this summer. He was a free pickup for the Pens, who added a third round pick in 2025 (and sixth in 2026) to take Glass and his $2.5 million salary off of Nashville’s hands in exchange for a non-NHL prospect on an NHL contract. Now they’ll add a second third round pick from New Jersey, a sturdy piece of business in their mission to compile as many draft picks as possible.
Glass scored four goals and added 11 assists for Pittsburgh this season in 51 games, playing center or wing and on a variety of lines. He grew into one of the team’s top penalty kill options. He had a good defensive impact but was unable or unwilling to go to the net and generate much by the way of offense.
Update: details
WBS forward Jonathan Gruden is going with Glass to New Jersey. Gruden, 24, has not been in the NHL this season but has played 16 career games with Pittsburgh. He had 13 points (7G+6A) in 42 games with Wilkes-Barre this season in a checking line role.
The Pens pick up Chase Stillman, 21, a former first round pick (29th overall in 2021) from Jersey. Stillman has nine points (3G+6A) in 46 games for AHL Utica this season and has yet to appear in the NHL. This is only his second pro season and Stillman did score 14 goals in the AHL last season which could give a little hope the 6’1” 185 pound winger has some upside in the future.
Despite the lofty draft pedigree and genetics (his father, Cory, played over 1,000 NHL games and scored 727 points), the young Stillman has a ways to go. Our friends at All About the Jersey wondered earlier this season if Stillman needed an assignment to the ECHL since it hasn’t been working out so great for him at the AHL. Even his draft selection was something of a surprise, most had a second round ranking on him due to overall skill, listing effort and motor as his better traits. So far it’s been an issue for him to figure out the AHL, let alone the NHL, but he’ll get a second chance and clean slate to start over again with the Pittsburgh organization.
Graham, 20, is a former fifth round pick of the Devils (2024) playing in Kelowna (WHL) this season. Listed as a 6’3”, 210 pound center, Graham has 35 points (13G+22A) in 34 games in juniors this season. The production is OK but not amazing for an older player at that level, but you can’t teach the kind of frame and size Graham has, which has to make him intriguing to the Penguins as a pro prospect.
