The Washington Capitals hope to continue their hot start when they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.

The Capitals (10-4, in the Metropolitan Division) are coming off an 8-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night as Alex Ovechkin and Connor McMichael each scored two goals.
Ovechkin has scored 863 goals and is just 31 goals behind Wayne Gretzky’s NHL record 894. Ovechkin has scored goals in six of his last seven games. It also marked the 175th multigoal game of Ovechkin’s 20-year, trailing only Gretzky (189).
McMichael has points in three consecutive games and six of his last seven outings overall. McMichael scored 59 seconds into the game and added a power-play in the third period.
Jakob Chychrun, Rasmus Sandin, Michael Sgarbossa and Brandon Duhaime also scored for Washington.
Goaltender Logan Thompson, acquired in an offseason trade with Vegas, is a perfect 7-0-0 on the season. He recorded 24 saves.

Toronto (9-6-2, in the Atlantic Division) played on Tuesday night, losing 3-0 at home to the Ottawa Senators.
Anthony Stolarz stopped 38 shots for Toronto, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.
Toronto is 2-3-2 so far on the road this season.
Mitchell Marner has scored four goals with 16 assists to lead the Maple Leafs in points while William Nylander leads the team with 11 goals and also has five assists.
