Leading up to the NHL draft on Friday June 27th, a big question mark around the Boston Bruins is whether or not they are going to trade their 7th overall draft pick.

In a trade, the Boston Bruins would be looking to acquire an NHL ready player, that would make an immediate impact on the Boston Bruins.

The NHL draft this year is not too deep outside of the top 5 picks, so moving on from their draft pick for a player that could benefit them right now is not a bad idea.

Don Sweeney reveals his plan with the 7th overall pick

Today, Don Sweeney held a press conference where he met with the media at 3 p.m. ET.

During his press conference, Sweeney stated that the Bruins are still exploring their options with their 7th overall pick:

Sweeney says the #NHLBruins are still exploring their options as to what they’ll do with the seventh overall pick.

Two teams emerge as potential trade partners

So far, two teams have expressed interest in trading for the Boston Bruins 7th overall pick with the first team being the New York Islanders.

The other team that has recently emerged as a trade partner for the Bruins are the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Pittsburgh is actively trying to make their prospect pool a lot better, and have some veteran players that they are looking to move.
