The Winnipeg Jets have a chance to advance when they face the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 of this best-of-7, first-round series of the Stanley Cup Playoffs Friday. Puck drop from Enterprise Center is set for 8 p.m. ET (TNT / truTV / Max). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Jets vs. Blues odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Series: Jets lead 3-2 after winning all 3 games on home ice
The Jets looked like a new team in Game 5. They were embarrassed in St. Louis in Games 3 and 4 and came out firing once they returned home. LW Kyle Connor scored 1:23 into the game as they had control throughout and really played suffocating defense. They held the Blues to 9 shots on goal in the first 2 periods. He finished with a goal and 2 assists. This game came at a cost, though, as Jets C Mark Scheifele was injured in the first period, didn’t return and has been ruled out for Game 6.
There was some weird officiating in Winnipeg’s favor. Blues C Oskar Sundqvist was assessed a 2-minute penalty for embellishment when he was bleeding from the mouth after an elbow. The Jets didn’t score, but the power play certainly helped them build momentum. Rookie winger Jimmy Snuggerud scored his second goal of the series, and it was a bit of a soft goal that G Connor Hellebuyck let in. That was really it, though, as the Jets defense was stifling. Hellebuyck made his best save of the series on a 2-on-1 that Sunny put on goal, and Hellebuyck made the stick save. The Blues are tough in this building, though, winners of 14 straight.

Connor Hellebuyck (47-12-3, 2.00 GAA, .925 SV%, 8 SO in regular season) vs. Jordan Binnington (28-22-5, 2.69 GAA, .900 SV%, 3 SO in regular season)
Hellebuyck stopped 13 of the 16 the Blues fired at him in Game 5, but he really was not tested. As I mentioned, he let in a soft goal in the second period, and the Jets defense really clamped down after that. Hellebuyck was pulled in both games here in this series and allowed 11 goals on 43 shots.
Binner stopped 21 of 25 in Game 5, and the Jets did a really good job at getting in front of the net to screen him. One of them was a deflection goal, and another hit off D Colton Parayko into the net. He was great in Games 3-4, stopping 47 of 50 shots fired his way in this building.

Jets at Blues picks and predictionsPrediction
Blues 4, Jets 3
The Jets were supposed to win Game 5. They’re supposed to win this series. They’re not doing it in St. Louis — especially without arguably their best player.
The Blues are playing with house money. They had a 1% chance to make the playoffs before the 4 Nations Face-Off and went on a masterful run to get here. They weren’t supposed to have a chance in this series, but they’ve thrown everything at Winnipeg to be in a position to force Game 7, where anything can happen. I look for one more jolt behind the rowdy crowd.
Take the BLUES (-115).
I’m skipping the puck line and going with CAM FOWLER OVER 0.5 POINTS (-115). He has a point in every game in this series. His 9 points are tied for fifth-most in the NHL, and he’s the top-scoring defenseman in these playoffs.
I’m taking the Over here because Hellebuyck has shown nothing to give me confidence that this will be a low-scoring affair. The crowd’s chant of “CONNORRRRRR” seemed to really disrupt him, and he made mistakes when he tried to play the puck.
Take the OVER 5.5 (+115).
